Color of Fear

Black ink on white paper has been my medium of choice since I began drawing several years ago, but recently I have had a thirst for something new; so I have added color to my work. When I first began to draw with colored ink, I felt as though I had switched from water to wine. It made me giddy to see the cacophony of tints glowing on my paper, but more often than not, it is still black that gives form and definition to the colors. To my mind, that vibrant contrast sends a message that things may not be what they seem, and that hiding underneath the bright neon hues, are dark intentions, chaos, and fear - a kind of fear that is fast becoming a hallmark of our age.
